Migos' Quavo and Offset reunite for powerful Takeoff tribute at BET Awards

Quavo and Offset teamed up for a Migos reunion at the BET Awards, and it was an emotional comeback.

The rappers, who formed the influential Atlanta rap group with late rapper Takeoff, took the stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday for a tribute to their former bandmate, who died in November.

Quavo and Offset kicked off their BET number with a performance of "Hotel Lobby," grooving together onstage before an enlarged image of Takeoff was revealed on the screen behind them. The rappers then launched into the group's signature hit "Bad and Boujee" as pyrotechnics blazed onstage.

Sunday night marked the first time the two performed together since Takeoff's death.

Fans took to social media to express their joy at seeing the Migos rappers back together onstage.

Quavo and Offset also shared the performance on social media. "For The Rocket ❤️‍🩹🚀," Quavo wrote in one post. In another, he captioned photos of him and Offset from the performance with, “Do This For The Fam Cuz This Shhh Bigger Than Me!”

Offset posted a video with the same caption.

Born Kirsnik Khari Ball, Takeoff died Nov. 1 after he was shot as more than 30 people were leaving a private party at a bowling center in Houston. Police have said the gunfire followed a disagreement over a "lucrative" game of dice, but that Takeoff was not involved and was "an innocent bystander." His mother is now suing the bowling alley.

All three Migos members grew up together in the Atlanta area, with Quavo and Takeoff sharing a familial bond and close friend Offset joining the duo in their teenage years. Quavo said he and Takeoff "hated the word nephew" because they felt their relationship was closer.

Quavo and Offset reunited earlier this week to celebrate what would have been Takeoff's 29th birthday on June 18. Quavo posted a series of photos on Instagram on Monday as his family members gathered to visit a Takeoff mural and wore shirts with the late rapper's photo. Offset was included in one of the group pictures.

"ALL for TAKE!" Quavo captioned the post.
