This follows her exceptional proposal on the production of biohydrogen from fruit and vegetable waste, particularly abundant in Ethiopia, using catalysts from low-cost natural and synthetic materials.
ACEII PTRE student wins Eni Award 2023

Ms. Elshaday Mulu Fetene, who pursued a Master of Science degree in Energy Studies at Moi University, was recognized among researchers and scientists of the fifteenth edition of the Eni Award, a prize established in 2007 that has become an international reference point for research in the fields of energy and environment.
Ms. Fetene, an Ethiopian national, won the award in the category of Young Talents from Africa. While acknowledging Ms. Fetene’s achievement, ACEII PTRE Centre Leader, Sir, Prof. Ambrose Kiprop congratulated her, noting her outstanding performance in the field of energy studies.
“ACEII PTRE acknowledges the aim of the award as to promote radical breakthroughs in energy efficiency, renewables, decarbonization and safeguarding of the environment, stimulating the work of new generations of researchers. The award testifies to the importance that Eni places on talent, scientific research and innovation. The Centre is even more proud that the award has come along with a three-year PhD scholarship for Fetene to study in any Italian University,” said Sir, Prof. Kiprop.
Prof. Kiprop further noted that ACEII PTRE remains steadfast in its support for Ms. Fetene’s scholarly endevours.
