More than 50 people are dead and several others hospitalised in Kericho County following a tragic accident that occurred at Londiani junction Friday evening.
The accident occurred after a truck lost control, running over pedestrians, business people and matatus which were parked by the roadside.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck's driver lost control after experiencing a technical problem and was attempting to avoid colliding with a bus that was parked on the road.
Several Nissan Matatus were irreparably destroyed in the evening collision.
The rescue is still ongoing, according to Londiani OCPD Agnes Kunga, as there are still a number of bodies inside vehicles and some underneath trucks.
More than 60 people have so far been rushed to different hospitals in Londiani, Kericho and Nakuru where they are currently receiving treatment.
The OCPD said the number of casualties could be more, but that the relevant authorities will give a proper brief later.
