National teachers Championship kick off at Homabay
The national teachers tournament kicked off today at Agoro Sare highschool. Twenty nine teams take part in the tournament fifth edition.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has officially announced that the Harambee Stars will be participating in a highly anticipated four-nation tournament slated to take place in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Scheduled between March 18th and 26th, 2024, during the FIFA international window, the tournament promises to be a crucial platform for the senior men's national teams of Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The tournament is not just a stage for the senior teams to showcase their prowess but also an opportunity for the nations involved to prepare for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaigns.
According to the FKF, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance football development and foster transformation across the region.
In an innovative move, the tournament will also feature a concurrent youth competition for the U20 national teams.
This parallel event is designed to unearth and nurture young talent, providing them with invaluable exposure and experience on an international platform.
The youth tournament aligns with the objectives of preparing teams for the 2024 AFCON Under-20 qualifiers later this year.
"We believe hosting these joint tournaments will build camaraderie among our nations, provide high-level competition for our players, and elevate youth football programs across Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe," the FKF stated.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has been vocal about his vision for the integration of youth development within the senior team framework.
“We want to make sure that we start building a team for the AFCON 2027 early enough, and having them play with the seniors in the same window will be a great way to introduce them to the top level, ” Namwamba said.
For the senior Harambee Stars team, the tournament in Malawi is pivotal as they look to fine-tune their strategies ahead of crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
With matches against regional rivals and the newly crowned AFCON champions Ivory Coast on the horizon in June 2024, the team’s performance in Malawi will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.
Under the guidance of coach Engin Firat Harambee Stars are expected to utilize this tournament as a platform to test new tactics and strengthen team cohesion.
